A granular band, not a spray.
The same granular formula in a five-gallon bucket — enough to run a full perimeter on a large lot or a multi-building property. One application lasts two to three weeks. Five listed ingredients, printed on every bucket.

Band the lines they travel, not the whole lawn.
Yard and lawn perimeter
Shake a three-foot band along the foundation line where the house meets the soil — the edge anoles, geckos, and snakes use to travel between cover and food.
Garden and flower beds
Band the perimeter of garden beds and the base of plants iguanas target — hibiscus, bougainvillea, impatiens. The granular powder goes on the soil along the bed edge, not on the plants themselves.
Pool deck and screen enclosure footer
Run the band along the pool-cage threshold and the deck edge where it meets the landscaping — the route frogs and iguanas use to reach the pool.
Patio and lanai
Shake the powder along the base of the patio wall and the threshold of the lanai door. No drift onto furniture, no drying time — you can walk the deck right after.
Garage and doorways
Band the garage door threshold and the base of exterior door frames — the gaps anoles and geckos use to slip inside.
Seawall cap and dock
Lay the band along the seawall cap and the dock-to-landscape transition — the route iguanas use to climb up and bask. Granular powder sits on the cap where a spray would run off.
Fence line
Shake the powder along the base of the fence line and any gap where the fence meets the ground — a travel corridor for snakes, lizards, and toads.
Around landscape lights and pool equipment
Band the base of light posts and the pool equipment pad — the spots where insects gather at night and the reptiles that eat them follow.
You are treating lines and edges, not broadcasting over the whole lawn.
The 32 oz bag covers about 1,500 sq ft of banded perimeter. The 5-gallon bucket covers about 30,000 sq ft. Here are three worked examples so you can estimate what your property takes.
Quarter-acre yard perimeter
A typical quarter-acre lot has about 400 linear feet of perimeter — foundation, fence line, and garden-bed edges. A three-foot band along that perimeter is about 1,200 sq ft of coverage. One 32 oz bag handles it with room to spare.
Screened pool cage footer
A standard pool cage has about 150 to 200 linear feet of footer. A three-foot band along the outside of the footer is about 600 sq ft. One 32 oz bag covers it with enough left for the garage threshold and a doorway or two.
Canal lot seawall and hedge line
A canal-front property with 100 feet of seawall cap, 200 feet of hedge line, and a full foundation perimeter can run 800 to 1,000 linear feet — about 3,000 sq ft of banded coverage. One 5-gallon bucket covers it, with enough for a reapplication.
Nothing to mix. Nothing to dry. No drift.
A spray has to be mixed, applied wet, and given time to dry before people and pets can use the area. Wind carries the mist onto furniture, screens, and plants you did not intend to treat. A granular powder is different. You shake it or spread it dry along the travel line — nothing to mix, nothing to dry, no drift onto the patio or the pool deck. You can walk the deck right after you lay the band.
The powder sits where you put it. It does not run off into the pool or the canal the way a liquid can. For people who specifically search for powder, granular, or pellet reptile repellents — this is that product. Learn the full method on our how to apply granular repellent page.
Two to three weeks. Sooner after heavy rain.
One application lasts two to three weeks in normal South Florida conditions. Reapply after a heavy rain or every two to three weeks through the active season — spring through late fall. An honest reapplication interval matters because it tells you what to expect. Any repellent that does not state how long it lasts is hiding something.
After a downpour, check the band and reapply if it has thinned. Irrigation from sprinklers also breaks the band down over time. The granular powder is more resistant to washout than a liquid spray, but no outdoor treatment lasts indefinitely in the South Florida sun and rain. For more, see our FAQ on reapplication and rain.
Iguanas, lizards, geckos, snakes, frogs, and toads.
Each species has its own travel routes and attractants. See the full guide for each:
A repellent, not a removal service or a trap.
ReptilesAway makes travel routes unpleasant so reptiles reroute off the property on their own. It does not capture, trap, or physically remove any animal. It does not make a property permanently reptile-free — no repellent does. A heavy, established population or an animal already denning under a structure needs removal or exclusion first, and the band keeps new traffic off the line going forward.
The powder is formulated as an EPA FIFRA 25(b) minimum-risk pesticide — made only from ingredients on the EPA's minimum-risk list, so it is exempt from federal registration. Made with food-grade and botanical ingredients. As with any product, keep pets from eating it directly and check the ingredient list if your pet has known sensitivities to any of them.
The 5-gallon bucket is the size pest-control operators, property managers, HOAs, and landscapers run on their routes — 30,000 sq ft of coverage per bucket, no special licensing to apply, and a clean five-ingredient label customers can read. If you are buying in volume, see our wholesale page for pros and HOAs for a quote based on your route and monthly volume.
Need a smaller size? See the 32 oz bag for a typical yard.
Five listed ingredients, printed on every 5-gallon bucket: sodium chloride, citric acid, lemongrass oil, peppermint oil, garlic oil. Food-grade and botanical — nothing you'd need a hazmat suit to handle.
