Two cities in one: east of I-75 and west of it
East Pembroke Pines — Boulevard Heights, Pembroke Lakes, Pembroke Shores, Pines Village, Century Village's 55+ condos and golf course, and the Hollywood-side streets around C.B. Smith Park — is 1960s–80s stock with mature hedges, porch lights, and screened pools. West of I-75, almost everything was built after Hurricane Andrew in 1992, when Miami-Dade families moved north: Pembroke Falls and SilverLakes with their stocked lakes, Pembroke Isles, Grand Palms' 27 holes on five hundred acres, Towngate's fourteen subdivisions, Spring Valley, Cobblestone, Flamingo Estates, and Chapel Trail's seventeen sub-neighborhoods wrapped around a 450-acre preserve. The city ends at US-27 and the Everglades.
The whole city sits in the C-11 West Basin and drains toward the Everglades, and the Snake Creek Canal (the C-9) and its north fork run along the south. Add a retention lake behind nearly every western lot and a pool inside nearly every cage, and you have the three problems Pembroke Pines calls about.
Iguanas, toads, and — at the edge — pythons
Green iguanas sun on every lake bank in Pembroke Falls, SilverLakes, and Pembroke Isles, burrow into the banks, and strip hibiscus and bougainvillea on the way to the pool. During the February 2026 freeze, west-Broward trappers collected roughly a quarter of the whole state's cold-stunned haul, and local reporting singled out Pembroke Pines for a particularly high count. Cane toads and Cuban tree frogs come out of the same lakes: toads on the pool deck and under landscape lights after rain, toxic to dogs; tree frogs on the lanai screens and in the pump housing.
At the western edge the story changes. A twelve-foot Burmese python was caught at US-27 and Johnson Street heading toward Chapel Trail in 2018, and an eight-foot python turned up in a resident's garage. The city runs its own snake-safety page covering cottonmouths, coral snakes, and pygmy and eastern diamondback rattlesnakes, with peak activity from April through October. Chapel Trail Nature Preserve's boardwalk is a mile from US-27, and the homes around it get snakes in the mulch after storms.
Where to lay the band in Pembroke Pines
Lake homes (Pembroke Falls, SilverLakes, Pembroke Isles, Towngate): a continuous band along the top of the lake bank, the outside footer of the pool cage, the lake-facing hedge, and a ring around each low landscape light and the pool-equipment pad. Grand Palms and Century Village golf lots: the fairway-side hedge as well. Chapel Trail and any lot within sight of US-27: the fence line facing the preserve, wood piles, the garage apron, and the mulch beds against the house. East-side streets: foundation, porch steps, and the pool-deck edge.
Pembroke Pines is about 17 miles southwest of our Fort Lauderdale base, on the same route as Miramar and Cooper City. A SilverLakes or Pembroke Falls pool lot is a 32 oz job; a Grand Palms estate or an HOA lake bank is the 5-gal bucket.
A barrier you control, from five ingredients you can read.
ReptilesAway is a granular powder, not a spray, made from five ingredients — sodium chloride, citric acid, lemongrass oil, peppermint oil, and garlic oil — and formulated as an EPA FIFRA 25(b) minimum-risk pesticide — made only from ingredients on the EPA's minimum-risk list, so it is exempt from federal registration. One application lasts 2–3 weeks. The 32 oz bag is $24.99 and covers 1,500 sq ft; the 5-gal bucket is $164.99 and covers 30,000 sq ft. Made with food-grade and botanical ingredients. As with any product, keep pets from eating it directly and check the ingredient list if your pet has known sensitivities to any of them. Local treatment is priced by quote with no contracts — call 1-833-8REPTILES (1-833-873-7845).

Three steps. You run them.
Find the travel lines
Walk your Pembroke Pines property and flag the routes reptiles use — lakeshores, canal banks, pool-cage edges, the gaps under a gate.
Lay the band
Shake a three-foot band of powder along those lines. No spray, no fogger, nothing to dry — fine around the pool and patio.
Reapply on schedule
One pass lasts two to three weeks. Reapply after a heavy rain or every couple of weeks through the long iguana season.
Questions about Pembroke Pines.
Iguanas are stripping the hedge along our SilverLakes lake bank. Where does the band go?
Along the top of the bank where the grass meets the water, at the base of the hedge being eaten, and along the outside footer of the pool cage. Reapply every two weeks in wet season, since storm runoff washes the bank. Lake-front neighbors treating at the same time keeps iguanas from simply moving one lot over.
We are in Chapel Trail near US-27. Does a repellent help with snakes?
It makes the mulch beds, fence line, garage apron, and foundation edge unpleasant to cross, which is the goal on a preserve-edge lot. It is not a removal service — report a python to the FWC and leave any rattlesnake, cottonmouth, or coral snake to a licensed trapper. Keep pets inside after heavy rain.
Our dog found a cane toad on the pool deck in Pembroke Falls. What do I treat?
Ring each low landscape light and the pool-equipment pad, run the band along the outside footer of the cage and the lake-facing hedge, and keep it fresh May through October, when toads come up after rain. Cane toads are toxic to dogs, so keep pets away from any toad you find.
Take back your Pembroke Pines yard.
From SilverLakes to the Chapel Trail edge, the fix is the same: a granular line where the reptiles travel. Run it yourself, or let our crew handle the whole thing.
