Iguana, Toad & Frog Repellent in Delray Beach, FL

Quick answer
To keep iguanas, toads, and frogs off a Delray Beach yard, lay a three-foot band of ReptilesAway granular powder along the seawall cap, dock, lake bank, pool-cage footer, and hedge lines they travel, and refresh it every 2–3 weeks. Order the powder from the shop or book a local treatment at 1-833-8REPTILES (1-833-873-7845).

Tropic Isle, Lake Ida, and the E-4

Delray Beach has two very different waterfronts, and iguanas use both. On the coast, Tropic Isle is about 425 homes, most on deep-water canals with no fixed bridges to the Intracoastal, no HOA, and a mix of original 1960s–70s ranches and new builds — a seawall, a dock, and a hedge on every lot. Seagate and Palm Trail line the Intracoastal itself. Inland, Lake Ida (120 acres) and Lake Eden are the middle of a chain: the E-4 Canal runs through Lake Ida and discharges to the Intracoastal by way of the C-15, and the Lake Ida neighborhood, Delray Lakes' gated 169 homes with a boat ramp on the lake, and Rainberry Lake's canal gate onto the E-4 all sit on that water. Visitors to Lake Ida East Park report iguanas all over the place, and homes along the Intracoastal, the C-15, and the city's retention ponds report steady pressure. Green iguanas sun on the seawall or the lake bank, burrow into it, foul the dock, and strip hibiscus and bougainvillea.

There is no city removal program. The Lake Worth Drainage District, whose canals run through Delray, tells owners to fill burrows and trim branches overhanging the water. During the February 2026 cold snap, a Palm Beach County dog died after eating a cold-stunned iguana it found in the yard — one more reason to keep them off the lot rather than wait for a freeze.

West of the Turnpike: lakes, 55+, and toads

Kings Point, Villages of Oriole, High Point, Addison Reserve, and The Bridges are gated, lake-centered, and largely 55+ communities with a screened pool or a shared pool deck on every street. Those retention lakes breed cane toads and Cuban tree frogs; a West Delray veterinary clinic keeps a standing bufo-toad page because of how often it comes up. Toads sit on the pool deck and under landscape lights after rain and are toxic to dogs; tree frogs cover lanai screens and pump housings. Wakodahatchee Wetlands on Jog Road — where large iguanas sun on the boardwalk rails next to alligators and snakes — and Morikami Park's 188 acres border those communities and keep them supplied. Downtown's historic streets — Del-Ida Park, Osceola Park, Pineapple Grove — get geckos and anoles on every lit porch.

Where to lay the band in Delray Beach

Canal and Intracoastal lots (Tropic Isle, Seagate, Palm Trail): a continuous band on the dry seawall cap, the dock landing, the lawn strip to the pool, and the base of the hedge. Lake Ida, Delray Lakes, and Rainberry Lake: the top of the lake bank, the pool-cage footer, and the water-facing hedge. West Delray communities: the cage footer, the lake-facing hedge, and a ring around each low landscape light and the pool-equipment pad; homes near Wakodahatchee should add the fence line on the wetland side.

Delray Beach is about 28 miles north of our Fort Lauderdale base, on our route with Boca Raton and Boynton Beach. A Tropic Isle seawall lot is a 5-gal job; a Kings Point villa or a Del-Ida Park cottage is a 32 oz bag.

The solution

A barrier you control, from five ingredients you can read.

ReptilesAway is a granular powder, not a spray, made from five ingredients — sodium chloride, citric acid, lemongrass oil, peppermint oil, and garlic oil — and formulated as an EPA FIFRA 25(b) minimum-risk pesticide — made only from ingredients on the EPA's minimum-risk list, so it is exempt from federal registration. One application lasts 2–3 weeks. The 32 oz bag is $24.99 and covers 1,500 sq ft; the 5-gal bucket is $164.99 and covers 30,000 sq ft. Made with food-grade and botanical ingredients. As with any product, keep pets from eating it directly and check the ingredient list if your pet has known sensitivities to any of them. Local treatment is priced by quote with no contracts — call 1-833-8REPTILES (1-833-873-7845).

How it works

Three steps. You run them.

1

Find the travel lines

Walk your Delray Beach property and flag the routes reptiles use — Intracoastal seawalls, canal banks, pool-cage edges, the gaps under a gate.

2

Lay the band

Shake a three-foot band of powder along those lines. No spray, no fogger, nothing to dry — fine around the pool and patio.

3

Reapply on schedule

One pass lasts two to three weeks. Reapply after a heavy rain or every couple of weeks through the long iguana season.

Delray Beach FAQ

Questions about Delray Beach.

Iguanas use my Tropic Isle seawall every afternoon. Where does the band go?

On the dry seawall cap, the dock landing, and the lawn strip between the water and the pool — the lines an iguana crosses to reach the yard. Reapply every two weeks in summer, since tide splash and afternoon storms shorten the interval. On a no-bridge canal, neighbors treating together stops the animals moving one dock over.

We are on Lake Ida and the iguanas come up the bank into the garden. Same approach?

Yes, with the band along the top of the bank where the grass meets the water, the base of the hedge they strip, and the pool-cage footer. Fill any burrow you find and trim branches that overhang the lake, which is the Lake Worth Drainage District's advice as well. Refresh after storms wash the bank.

Can a 55+ community like Kings Point or Villages of Oriole have common areas treated?

Yes. We walk the lake banks and shared pool areas with the property manager, mark where iguanas sun and where toads come up after rain, and send a per-visit quote for a single treatment or a recurring schedule with no annual contract. Shared banks usually take the 5-gal bucket.
